Race Report from Open Women: NYRR Team Championships

Central Park Track Club Women’s Open Team depth helped them to a second place finish on Saturday’s Team Championship 5 Mile Race.  Kate Pallardy led the whole field through the first mile and held on strong to be our first finisher, taking home 4th place. We were very lucky to have Cat Beck back in town to run a negative split race and be our second scorer, finishing 9th overall.  Alex Bernardi followed up as our 3rd scorer, running another solid race! Jacy Kruzel, Christina Argueta., and Andrea Bradshaw were across the line next, while none had PRs, all noted they were happy…

Race Report from Masters Men: NYRR Team Championships

CPTC 40+ from Larry Go: The CPTC 40+ men made a valiant charge at team champs but came up a mere 42 seconds short with another narrow loss to the new and improved Urban Athletics. We’ve got quite a steep hill to climb in our quest for a 3rd straight team championship with our 2nd place finish at Team Champs. With five races to go we’ll head on to the rest of the season and see how close we can make it. In any case, we can look forward to cooler temperatures and faster racing as we aim for our…

Race Report from Masters Women: NYRR Team Championships

Recap of Womens 40+ from Ani Go: Ladies!! It was all about teamwork, and guts.  Team champs is the most competitive points race and we placed a solid second, which solidly keeps us in first place! NYRR’s unprecedented decision to change the time and course for the race did not deter our ladies determination to get to the podium.  We had an incredible turnout of fierceness in the form of scorers Colleen McGurk, Elizabeth Lopes, and Amy Kvilhaug, and representation of guts from Audrey Kingsley, Julie Tucker, Jennifer Ranck, and myself. Colleen McGurk had a heck of a race, and…

Race Report from Open Men: NYRR Team Championships

Photo Credit NYRR Men’s Open Recap from Greg Cass: The NYRR Team Champs race is always a bit of a wildcard.  Any race deep in the heart of summer is always asking for tough racing conditions, and the weather didn’t disappoint last weekend.  As an added bonus, because of construction on the 102nd Street Transverse, the traditional course that skips the Harlem Hills was forced to detour through the toughest stretch of the park in the first mile.  But as always, the entire course was loaded with cheering teammates, and the 10-deep scoring let the Open Men show off their impressive…
